A hiring platform and digital community of practice for educators of color

Winston Daley

  • Project Description

AGOGOS is a hiring platform and social media community for educators of color. AGOGOS provides a dynamic digital vehicle for these educators to showcase their skills and experience. AGOGOS connects school districts to a national resource of minority educators. AGOGOS is also a community of practice where EOC can network, converse, create, and find support. Educational systems at all levels have historically struggled with finding, hiring and retaining educators of color. These systems have not been able to expand their reach enough to consistently attract Black, Latinx, Asian, and Native American teachers or administrators. Recruitment and hiring methods are passive and do not capture the modern, digitally connected world. Efforts to increase diversity amongst educators have been local and unconnected. Agogos provides a dynamic platform for recruiting and hiring educators of color that is also a digital community of these educators. Our users create dynamic digital multimedia portfolios with video and social media content. Employers have a searchable resource to find highly qualified minority educators. Our hiring partners now have an ever-growing library of potential employees at all experience level. Employers can be proactive in their search and engage potential hires immediately. A digital community space for minority educators to discuss all aspects of the field with the support of friends, mentors and peers.
  • Why is the timing right for your idea?

In 2020 the US had a national conversation about race, equity, and access in all aspects of our society. Books about history and injustice flew off the shelves and money is now being invested in products that help to solve these inequities.

  • What is your competitive advantage?

Agogos is focused on a specific group of educators and not just on their hiring we aspire to increase the number of EOC in the workforce. We are also proactive in working with school districts provide distrists with real feddback about their hiring practices and helping to match teaches with openings

  • What will you do with $10,000?
